What is being done for Latinos in Israel amid the war crisis?
A strong topic this week has been the war that has broken out between Israel and Palestine. People in both counties has grown to worry about their safeties and figuring out a way to return home. Along with the violence that had been spreading, many airports were either bombed and no longer operating. However, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez, announced that he would send two planes to retrieve 300 Mexican nationals in Israel.
These flights were aimed at bringing back Mexican nationals who were living there or touring the country. Among various Latinos, this was a very powerful move, as during this time not many countries have offered similar aid to their citizens. Mexican nationals were alerted from the Mexican embassy in Israel and given instructions on how to sign up for the flights. Currently, there are 5,000 Mexican nationals living in Israel.
It's inspiring to see how much Mexico's President is aiming at safely bringing back his citizens and is continuing to provide various resources for those attempting to find their families. Although the conflict occurring is saddening, it's calming to know that Government Administrations are making efforts to assist Latinos, in this case, Mexicans during times of crisis.
