Major Political Shift with TelevisaUnivision, so what?
Back in January 2023, Televisa and Univision, two major spanish-speaking networks, closed their media merger for 4.8B. Within the Latino community, these two media outlets have become a primary source for Latinos to obtain news. With the merge, it now has the ability to reach over 100 million people each day, including those in the U.S. However, the merge has become extremely controversial due to the recent interview with former President Donald Trump. The interview was aired on November 9th, being led by Enrique Acevedo. Major controversy arose after the public recognizing a lack of fact-checking for the former President. Additionally, it had seemed as TelevisaUnivision was attempting to sway the public in favor of Trump as they took a different approach in answering questions related to immigration and border policies.
